Delhi HC on Agneepath Scheme: The controversy over the Agneepath scheme for recruitment in the armed forces is still going on. Hearing is going on in the Delhi High Court on the petition filed for the cancellation of this scheme. While hearing the petition, the High Court on Wednesday (December 14) asked the Center that if the job profile of ‘Agniveers’ and regular constables is the same then why their salaries are different?

Responding to the court’s question, the counsel for the central government said, “The cadre of Agniveers is different from the regular cadre of the armed forces.” To which the Court then reiterated its question saying, “Different cadres do not respond to job profiles. Our question is one of work and responsibility. If the job profile is the same then how can you justify different pay?”

Center sought answer in affidavit

The High Court has sought an answer from the Central Government on this subject by filing an affidavit. A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramaniam Prasad is hearing the matter. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati is representing the central government in the court. The bench has ordered the Additional Solicitor General to take complete information on this subject and file it in the affidavit. The Court said, “A lot depends on the job profile, if the job profile is the same then how can you justify different pay?”

‘The role of Agniveer and regular cadre is different’

At the same time, answering this, Bhati said, “Agniveer cadre is different from the regular cadre of the Indian Armed Forces. Its terms and conditions as well as responsibilities are different.” Aishwarya Bhati said, “If any operational issues arise, they will be sorted out as the government’s interest is to keep the armed forces at the top.”

This is how Agniveer can become a regular soldier

He said, “The responsibility of an Agniveer and a regular soldier cannot be the same. Even the work of an Agniveer and a normal cadre is not the same.” He said, “Agniveer cadre has been made as a separate cadre. It will not be counted as a regular service. After serving as an Agniveer for four years, if he is found fit to volunteer, he will be promoted to regular cadre.” Can be made.”

Being Agniveer is not a compulsion – HC

Earlier, the High Court had asked the petitioners that which of their rights has been violated by the Agneepath scheme? The court had said, “The Agneepath scheme is voluntary. Those who have any problem with it should not join the armed forces.”

The court had said, “The Agneepath scheme for recruitment in the armed forces has been prepared by experts from the Army, Navy and Air Force. The judges are not military experts. The government has made a special policy. It is not mandatory, it is voluntary. You It has to be proved that the rights have been taken away, otherwise don’t join. There is no compulsion.”
